Royal Rangers

Royal Rangers is a pathway to adventure. As a Ranger, a boy will learn many outdoor and personal skills that will be helpful to him for years to come. He will have the opportunity to learn about the great outdoors, study wildlife, and learn other skills valuable in the four ways a boy grows: physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially.

Royal Rangers learn the importance of low-impact, no-trace outings. When on day camps, hikes, or campouts, Rangers are conservation minded, leaving the location cleaner than it was before they arrived and leaving it as if they had never been there - leaving no trace.

Royal Rangers will develop life-long friendships and find opportunities to work together through the buddy system and patrol system. The buddy system means that a boy should always have a buddy with him at all activities, outings, and camp-outs. The patrol system enables a boy and the members of his patrol to work together as a team to accomplish great things.

Royal Rangers will give a boy the opportunity to earn exciting advancements on the trail to earning the highest award in Royal Rangers, the Gold Medal of Achievement. Boys will learn the importance of setting goals and develop the self-confidence that comes from accomplishing those goals.

Royal Rangers will develop and challenge boy spiritually through weekly Bible studies, Scripture memorization, and devotions. Royal Rangers will help a boy learn the importance of duty, commitment, and maturity, helping him become a man of God. The Royal Ranger Code and Motto will give him boundaries for daily living. The pastor and commander will continue to challenge boys to become prayer warriors and encourage them to devote themselves to daily Bible reading.

Boys will have adventures, challenges, and responsibilities, but as the Motto says, a Royal Ranger is "Ready" - ready for anything.

The basic unit of Royal Rangers is the local outpost. Led by an Outpost Commander, the local outpost is made up of four divisions, each geared toward a specific age and grade level:

  • Ranger Kids — the trail to fun and adventure — is an exciting program for boys in kindergarten, first and second grades. Boys in this age group participate in great fun and excitement that will allow boys to develop their interests and needs as well as mold their character.

  • Discovery Rangers is a fun and exciting program for boys in third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade. Not only does the boy get to discover great indoor and outdoor activities, he will get to make many new friends. Being a Discovery Ranger is another step toward growing into a man of God in four ways.

  • As Adventure Rangers, sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade young men have the chance to do as these men. A Ranger is one who explores new frontiers, so the Adventure Ranger will explore new areas as he learns the history of Royal Rangers and takes advantage of opportunities for the future.

  • Expedition Rangers represents ninth through twelfth-grade boys. This is considered a high-action-packed adventure trail in which the Expedition Ranger is further challenged by advanced camping and camp craft skill opportunities. These extreme activities offer boys in this age group tremendous opportunity to become more self-reliant and develop a confidence and a greater appreciation of God.

Several advancement programs are available including Air Rangers, Sea Rangers, Trail Rangers, Chaplain Rangers, High Action Rangers, and more. Boys will be challenged to service through U.S. Missions, World Missions, Youth Ministry, and Men's Ministry.
