The Lay Leadership Summit event exists to provide inspiration, teaching, resources and relationships to enable lay leaders to minister effectively in their local church. Who Are The Guest Speakers At The CONNECT 07 Event?
John Ortberg
John Ortberg is an exceptional communicator in the area of practical teaching from the Bible. John is a best selling author, his works include: The Life You’ve Always Wanted; If You Want to Walk on Water You’ve got to get out of the Boat; God is Closer Than You Think; and Everybody’s Normal until You Get to Know Them. As a remarkable teacher with the gift of drawing practical insights from the Bible John is currently the Senior Pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church. He also formerly served teaching Pastor at Willow Creek near Chicago. John and his wife Nancy have been married for over 20 years and have enjoyed watching their family grow. They have three children, Laura, Mallory and Johnny.
Jared Anderson and the Desperation Band
Jared Anderson is a gifted worship leader and songwriter. Jared is the Associate Worship Pastor at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As well as being a part of the Desperation Band, he is a recording artist with Integrity Music and has written worship songs such as “Rescue”, “Amazed”, and “Hear us from Heaven”. Jared and his wife Megan live in Colorado Springs with their 3 children Everett, Beckett, and Francie.
Ray Johnston
Ray Johnston has a passion to prepare others for effective leadership. Ray is a twenty year veteran of both youth and adult ministry, founding Pastor of Bayside Church, in Roseville/Granite Bay, CA which has grown to over 8,000 in just a 10 year period and President of Developing Effective Leaders. He is the author of three books: Developing Student Leaders, Developing Spiritual Growth in Junior Highers, and, Help, I’m a Sunday School Teacher: 50 Ways to Make Sunday School Come Alive. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, leadership training events, family camps and national youth events. Ray and his wife Carol currently live in Granite Bay with their four children – Mark, Scott, Leslie and Christy.
Jon Lugo
Jon Lugo is extraordinarily gifted in leading people into a personal and intimate worship experience. Jon has served nearly 20 years as Creative Arts Pastor at Bethel Church in the Bay Area. He has written numerous single works, including a Christmas musical and most recently “An American Requiem” (written in remembrance of the victims of 9/11). Jon believes the Arts help transform what can appear to be a large and impersonal venue into a welcoming and intimate house of worship.
Linda Noah
Linda Noah is passionate about releasing God’s potential in the lives of ordinary everyday people. Linda is the founder of LifeSkills Resources, a coaching and consulting company. She has presented to and/or coached executives, professional athletes/performers, senior management and other high performance teams from several leading organizations including GE, AT&T, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Logitech, Inc. and United States Department of Defense. Although Linda has had a very successful career in business, her love is for the mission and vision of the church. Linda and her husband Ray are the Senior Pastors of Valley Christian Center in Dublin, CA.
Jason Harper
Jason believes in the redemptive possibilities of every person and is contagious in his communication. He is first and foremost a father and husband. With a commitment to live life to the fullest, Jason seeks to push the envelope of life. As a seeker of relevant truth and a communicator of authentic faith, his life connects to those from all facets and faiths. Jason seeks to communicate hope and to build bridges. These adventures have taken him to places that have changed and challenged him, from Calcutta to California. Jason is co-author of The Gutter and Outreach Pastor at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento, CA. Jason will be our master of ceremonies for this event.
George Negrete
George Negrete is our event host and director of Church Enrichment within the Northern California and Nevada Assemblies of God District. George’s passion is to lead multiple strategic planning teams made up of the most capable and creative leaders. His desire is to equip lay leaders by creating one of the largest training conferences on the West Coast. George also hosts children’s summer camps as well as an annual minister’s retreat. George’s example of servant leadership is infectious and timely. George and his wife, Edeen, have three boys who are under 9 years of age, George, Eddie and Gabriel. They live in Elk Grove, California.
