Reverend Ernie Spears, Senior Pastor at Full Gospel Assembly of God, was awarded the Hughson Chamber of Commerce/Hughson Community Alliance 2007 Citizen of the Year in May. 

Rev. Ernie was president of Hughson Ministerial Association for the past 34 years. He also presided over Hughson youth baseball, girl’s softball and adult softball for a decade and was a chaplain for the old Hughson Police Department (it is now Hughson Police Services). Rev. Ernie was Hughson Fruit & Nut Festival president for nine years and he’s been on the Hughson Community Senior Center board since the center was built in 1981. He was also a director for the Hughson Family Resource Center. Since becoming Senior Pastor, he has put in 10 years as youth representative for central San Joaquin section, which contains 39 churches. He also served on the District Youth Board in Santa Cruz for 10 years and was interim District Youth Director for the NCN District for six months. He served on the District insurance board for 12 years and for the past 10 years, he has been Sectional District Presbyter for the churches in the Central San Joaquin section.
