Newsreader Help

Read Our Headlines In Your Newsreader
By using an application commonly known as a newsreader, you can view headlines from our website (and other websites) in an easy-to-read fashion and then click through only to the stories which interest you.

If you don't have a newsreader, you can find a comprehensive list of newsreaders (also known as RSS readers) for Windows, Macintosh, Linux/Unix, Blackberry, Pocket PC and Palm, and Mobile Phones at the RSS Compendium. Their list also includes web-based and email-based newsreaders.

We have a large number of feeds you can use to keep up-to-date on news and events around the district. You can either click on a button which corresponds to your newsreader to automatically add our headlines, or if your newsreader does not have a button, you can use one of our RSS feeds.

Syndicate News From Our Youth Ministries Department

The Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God is pleased to be able to provide three versions (1.0, 2.0 and Atom) of our RSS feeds.

What Are RSS Feeds?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It is a technology designed for sharing headlines and other web content. There is a lot more that could be said, but that’s the gist of it. Our RSS feeds, which include headlines of district-wide events and news items, can be accessed in three different versions from the “Syndicate Our Site” menus in the right hand column of most pages on our site (if you visit those links, they will look like gibberish, but you will need the addresses for some of the applications referenced below).

How Can I Use RSS Feeds?

There are a variety of ways RSS feeds can be used. Perhaps the two most common uses are 1) to syndicate the headlines of one website on another website; and, 2) to read the headlines of a website in a software or web-based application commonly known as a “newsreader.” This page will show you how to syndicate the various headlines of our website on your church or ministry website. To find out how to read our headlines in a newsreader, visit our Newsreader Help page.

Syndicate Our Headlines On Your Website

By adding a few small lines of code to your website, headlines of the Northern California and Nevada District of the Assemblies of God (or of individual ministries) can be automatically added to your website. What’s more, the headlines will update automatically - once you’ve added the code, you won’t have to do anything!

To add headlines only from our Youth Ministries department to your website, copy the javascript in the text area field below into the code of your webpage:

To customize the way our headlines will appear on your website, first use the following form and then copy the revised javascript into the code of your webpage:

Maximum items to display:

Headline display:

CSS class for link: (optional - defined in your stylesheet)

CSS class for box surrounding headline: (optional - defined in your stylesheet)

Width of box surrounding headline: (optional)

When user clicks headline, follow link in:

Syndicate News From Our Light For The Lost Ministry
