NCN District Response to President Obama Stance on Same-Sex Marriage

Dr. Wood has stated well the Biblical position supported by our fellowship and this office. May I also remind everyone that while we abhor sin and what it does to people we must love the individual trapped in the consequences of that sin. Let us take a stand for righteousness and for the sanctity of marriage and at the same time reach out with redemptive love to the lost, whatever their sin. The NCN District stands for purity, traditional marriage and righteousness in our land. We pray for a revival in our churches and a a renewal in our land.

Superintendent Braddy

The Assemblies of God, in reaction to President Barack Obama’s embracing of same-sex marriage, is voicing its dissent and objection. According to Dr. George O. Wood, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God, the Assemblies of God is in complete disagreement with the president’s new position and takes exception to the president’s taking Scripture out of context to defend his position.

“The Bible clearly teaches that marriage should be a life-long commitment between one man and one woman,” states Dr. George O. Wood, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God. “There is no affirmation of homosexual behavior found anywhere in Scripture. However, the Bible is replete with evidence that homosexual behavior is immoral and comes under the judgment of God.”

The president also referred to the Bible, claiming Christ sacrificing himself for mankind and the golden rule as reasons for endorsing same-sex marriage.

“Although it has become popular to quote Scripture grossly out of context to serve a personal or political agenda, it still doesn’t change what God’s Word clearly states,” Wood says.

Wood adds that in light of what Scripture says, Christians should not be surprised by individuals and groups twisting Scripture, citing, 2 Timothy 4:3, “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

In the Assemblies of God’s official position paper on homosexuality, it states, “We believe, in the light of biblical revelation, that the growing cultural acceptance of homosexual identity and behavior, male and female, is symptomatic of a broader spiritual disorder that threatens the family, the government, and the church.”

The paper also states, “Not only do the Scriptures condemn more flagrant examples of homosexual violence and promiscuity, they also provide no support for the popular modern idea that loving and committed homosexual relationships between two long-term partners are morally acceptable. Homosexual activities of every kind are contrary to the moral commandments God has given us.”

Wood adds that it’s important for Christians to not underestimate the implications of a pro-homosexual, pro-abortion president, and what it means for the church. “In no time in our nation have we ever needed to pray more for our political leaders and this country than we need to today,” Wood says.

“BGMC is the AG missions program for kids that instills a heart of compassion to reach the lost through praying, giving, and going. All funds raised through BGMC go to meet critical needs around the world such as feeding programs, water wells, Bible schools, curriculum, and whatever else a missionary needs in their part of the world.”

What is BGMC?
What Does BGMC Do?

“BGMC is the AG missions program for kids that instills a heart of compassion to reach the lost through praying, giving, and going. All funds raised through BGMC go to meet critical needs around the world such as feeding programs, water wells, Bible schools, curriculum, and whatever else a missionary needs in their part of the world.”

Did you know? Among the Assemblies of God Missionaries, most were initially called to be missionaries while they were children!

Buddy Barrel
Where Do BGMC Offerings Come From?

Young children giving in Buddy Barrels
    Older children making faith promises
Parents and other adults receiving special offerings

What Does BGMC Money Buy?

Our missionaries can use BGMC funds for any ministry supplies that relate to evangelism and discipleship.

    Puppets, music, and video tapes
    Tracts, Bibles, and literature
Sound systems, computers, and copy machines
    And a whole lot more!

Why Give Offerings To BGMC?

BGMC goes to where the need is the greatest, where the timing is the most urgent, and where people’s lives can be changed forever.

When you give to BGMC, you are helping our entire ministry team all at once!

Bethany Press Release - April 18, 2012

Bethany University Chairman of the Board, Reverend James Braddy, has announced that the sale of the Bethany Campus in Scotts Valley to Olivet University failed to close escrow on April 17, 2012. Therefore the sales agreement is no longer in force and the campus is back on the market.

BETHANY UNIVERSITY
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

April 18,2012

Bethany University Chairman of the Board, Reverend James Braddy, has announced that the sale of the Bethany Campus in Scotts Valley to Olivet University failed to close escrow on April 17, 2012. Therefore the sales agreement is no longer in force and the campus is back on the market.

Reverend Braddy stated that the original agreement called for escrow to close on November 30, 2011. Olivet University had requested three extensions. In each case, Olivet was unable to perform according to the mutually agreed upon contract. Negotiations for a fourth extension did not prove acceptable to either Olivet or Bethany. The last agreed upon extension ended at 5:00 p.m. April 17, 2012, with Olivet University unable to meet the mutually accepted terms of sale.

Bethany has offered to lease the campus to Olivet University until the close of the school year. Bethany will aggressively be marketing the campus with a hoped for sale by the end of summer. The Board of Trustees regrets the failure to successfully negotiate the sale to Olivet University as it hoped this would have kept a viable Christian College in Scotts Valley.

Kids camp (for children in grades 3-6) is an amazing time for children to draw close to God. There are so many sounds screaming for their attention, it is difficult for children to hear the voice of God speaking in their hearts. At camp, the children:hear the Word of God, worship, make friends, play games, learn in workshops, play in water, work on projects, enjoy team activities, and get closer to God.

Bring “Living Water” to the Desert
God is giving Crosswinds Assembly and the Northern California & Nevada District a great opportunity to partner together in building a new facility in Fernley, Nevada.

The churches and ministers of this District are being challenged to raise sufficient funds over the next 12 months to help erect and outfit this new facility.

Webster defines opportunity as “a favorable combination of circumstances.” Through the combined sacrifice and giving of churches and the members of Crosswinds, we can do what the other definition of opportunity says: “A chance for advancement.”

Working together, Northern California & Nevada churches and Crosswinds Assembly will advance the kingdom! A new church will grace Fernley and become a vibrant part of this community.

What will this project do for Fernley and the surrounding communities?

The City of Fernley has some 19,000 people and no church larger than 150 in average Sunday attendance; this facility will allow Crosswinds Fernley to grow and reach more people for Christ.

If we build, we will be following God’s leading and fulfilling His desire to establish a strong Evangelical, Bible-centered, people-friendly, outreach motivated church in Lyon County.

Fernley is in need of an established Evangelical voice operating in a modern facility with video capabilities and state-of-the-art sound.

It will provide a much needed church facility with paved parking. (At the time of this writing there is no Christian church in Fernley with paved parking.)

It will enable Crosswinds Church to be more effective in its ministry to the people of Fernley and surrounding communities, by providing a modern spacious facility on the East side of town, close to the golf course.

It will allow other organizations and Service Groups to have a place for dinners, seminars, training classes, support-group meetings, etc.

Building Update from Pastor Jenner
Over the last couple of months a few things have been accomplished: the existing gas line has been moved in preparation for the hook up for the new building and a new power-pole has been installed on the property in preparation for the hook up of power for the new building.

The people of Crosswinds Assembly are still very committed to growing the church. While nothing has been done on the building itself in the last couple of months, we are still growing and our spirits are high. Sunday, October 30th we had our highest attendance (other than Easter Sundays) in the last two and a half years. It is imperative that we occupy the new building soon, and we are very appreciative of the District’s help and the generosity of churches and pastors who have given towards this important project; thank you for sowing into God’s Kingdom here in Fernley, Nevada.
